CDS 2024 consists of two exams in April and September to recruit officers for the Indian Armed Forces. Each exam has three sections: English, General Knowledge, and Mathematics, conducted in three shifts from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Candidates applying for CDS 2024 should have any one of the following

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens. Additionally, citizens of Bhutan and Nepal, as well as Tibetan refugees who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, are also eligible to apply.
Age Limit: The age limits for various academies are as follows: Indian Military Academy (IMA): 19 to 24 years, Indian Naval Academy (INA): 19 to 22 years,Indian Air Force Academy (IAFA): 19 to 23 years, Officers Training Academy (OTA): 19 to 25 years
Educational Qualifications: Indian Military Academy (IMA): A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university, Indian Naval Academy (INA): An Engineering degree from a recognised university or institution, Indian Air Force Academy (IAFA): A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a recognised university or institution, with Physics and Mathematics studied at the Class 12 level, Officers Training Academy (OTA): A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
Marital Status: IMA and INA: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible. OTA: Both unmarried and married male and female candidates can apply. IAFA: Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.
Final Year Students: Candidates who are in the final year or semester of their graduation can apply, provided they do not have any pending backlogs up to the last year or semester for which results have been declared

1. Go to the Official UPSC Website

Open your browser and navigate to the official UPSC website.

Under the Examinations section, you will see a link titled Apply online for All Examinations. Click it to proceed to the application portal.

2. Registration (Part I)

Find the link for the CDS exam in a list of active examinations and select it. Part I Registration includes filling out personal information, educational qualifications, address and contact details, preferences for academies, and photo ID information.

3. Part II Registration

Application Fee: General and OBC male candidates must pay INR 200, while SC/ST candidates and female candidates are usually exempt. Payment can be made online via debit/credit card, e-banking, or through SBI’s e-challan

Upload Documents: Scan and upload your passport-sized photograph and signature in the required dimensions and format. Select Exam Center: Choose your examination center from the provided drop-down list.

Agree to Declaration: Check the declaration and agree by selecting the respective checkbox. Submission and Printout: Review all the details entered in both Part I and II before submitting the form. Once submitted, you will receive a Registration ID. Print the confirmation page along with the fee receipt for your records.

The admit card will be released on the UPSC website a few weeks before the exam date. Ensure you have your registration ID and date of birth to download it.

CDS exam pattern 2024 is divided into a written exam and SSB Interview. The written exam for IMA, INA, and AFA comprises three sections:

English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics.

The test paper for admission to OTA consists of two sections: English and General Knowledge. Each section is held for two hours.

The total test marks for IMA, INA, and AFA are 300, while it is 200 for OTA.

The SSB Interview for IMA, INA, and AFA carries 300 marks each while it is 200 marks for OTA. The SSB Interview procedure consists of two stages: I and II. Stage I of the SSB Interview comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) and Picture Perception Description Test (PP&DT) and Interviews, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Conferences.

The Combined Defence Services (CDS) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) does not follow the traditional reservation system (like caste-based reservations) seen in many other government exams in India. However, there are certain aspects related to eligibility and seat allocation that candidates should be aware of:

Answer Keys for the CDS 2 Exam will be released soon by UPSC on its official website. However, some coaching institutes have already published the answer keys for candidates who have given their exam. Using these answer keys, students can calculate their marks for the exam and get an idea about their chances of selection in SSB interview.

If you are appearing in the CDS Exam, here are some guidlines you should follow:
Bring a printed e-admit card no electrical device are allowed. Make sure details on the admit card, like your name, photograph, and signature, are correct.
Carry an original ID proof (optional: Aadhaar Card, PAN card, Voter Card, Passport, etc.).
Arrive at the exam centre at least an hour before the reporting time.
Only the use of black ballpoint pen is allowed to fill the OMR sheet.
