6% of the candidates who qualified for both the UGC-NET papers become eligible for the post of Assistant Professor and only 1% qualify for Junior Research Fellowship. The general category candidates must score 40% marks in both papers to qualify for the exam. 35% combined scores of both papers are the qualifying marks for reserved category candidates. Candidates are also shortlisted based on their reservation as the seats are already reserved as per the legal guidelines.
NTA (National Testing Agency) declares the result for the UGC-NET on its official website. The results are published in the form of scorecards, which they can access by using their login credentials.Candidates need to log in to their account with User ID, Password, and Date of Birth and click on the link for the result. Download the result in pdf format to save to your device for future reference.

The reservation policy set up by the Indian government for reserved category candidates is also applicable to the UGC-NET 2025 Exam, which means the central universities, deemed to be universities, and even institutions must give the following reservation to the candidates of reserved categories.

27% of seats are reserved for OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer).

15% reservation of seats has been given to SC (Scheduled Caste) candidates.

A reservation of 10% seats has been provided to General-EWS candidates.

7.5% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste or ST applicants.

5% seats in the above-mentioned seats are reserved for candidates with 40% or more disability (PwD candidates).

Candidates are always suggested to solve the previous year’s question papers if they want to qualify for the exam. Previous Year's Papers give you an accurate idea of the exam pattern and number of questions asked per topic. This way candidates can prepare more strategically and focus on important topics more.

To prepare for competitive exams, practising the mock tests is an excellent method. Mock tests contain questions according to the latest syllabus of the exam and a time frame is given, during which you need to finish your test. Solving mock tests allows you to know your speed and accuracy and practising them regularly significantly enhances both.

Aspiring candidates can access the free mock tests for UGC NET here.

The NTA (National Testing Agency) generally releases the answer keys within a month of the exam conduct on its official website, allowing candidates to cross-check their answers.

Visit the official website and navigate to the link for the answer key.

Click on the link, then a page will appear requesting login credentials.

The answer key will open, allowing candidates to verify and challenge the answers.

Save the answer key to your device for future reference.

The NTA or National Testing Agency publishes the cut-offs for UGC-NET alongside the result. Cut-offs are the minimum qualifying marks for each candidate, which may vary a little for different category applicants. Candidates must score the marks equivalent to cut-offs or more to qualify for the exam and proceed with the selection process.
Arrive Early: Candidates are advised to reach the examination center at least an hour before the scheduled start time to overcome unexpected situations such as traffic.
Avoid Unnecessary Items: Do not carry books, materials, or anything that will create clutter in the exam hall.
Carry Valid ID Proof: Bring a valid ID proof such as an Aadhar card, PAN card, Driving Licence, or Voter ID Card to the exam center.
Bring Your Admit Card: Ensure you carry your admit card and verify that all information mentioned on it is accurate.
Follow Examination Staff Instructions: Behave obediently to the examination staff and invigilators during the check-in process and while giving the exam.
Keep Passport-Sized Photographs: Have up-to-date passport-sized photographs as required, which should be the same as those on your admit card.

First of all, knowing the exam pattern and syllabus is important before starting the exam preparation. Next, identify your weak areas and topics which seem difficult to you because working on them can be an effective approach to preparing for exams properly.

After preparing the entire syllabus, regular practice is crucial for at least a few months. Solve PYQs and PYPs and practise mock tests to enhance your speed and accuracy.
