XAT also known as the Xavier Aptitude Test is one of the leading entrance examinations conducted across the country mostly for management courses, especially at XLRI Jamshedpur and other institutes. It contains questions from disciplines such as verbal and logical ability, decision-making, quantitative ability and general knowledge to be answered by the candidates. As of date, XAT scores are accepted in more than 150 institutes of which some of the widely recognised ones are XLRI, XIMB, LIBA and XIME. It is normally administered in January and lasts for three hours. This exam includes four sections including a total of 105 questions. For this section, there are no deductions for wrong answers. XAT is a means to get into some of the leading B-schools in the country and is one of the most sought-after management entrance exams. Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree and possess a minimum of three years of work experience can apply.

To be eligible for XAT 2025, you need to meet certain requirements. You must hold a recognised Bachelor’s Degree which must have a minimum duration of 3 years. However, if you are in your last year of study, you can too but you must complete your course no later than June 12, 2025. Indian candidates have to take XAT 2025 examination while for NRI and foreign candidates, GMAT scores are acceptable. It is important to note that just because one has applied for XAT 2025 does not mean that one is automatically admitted to XLRI or any of the other Associate Member Institutes and one needs to apply separately for the desired programmes.

Here is the summary:

You must have a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university, with a minimum duration of three years.
If you are in your final year, you can still apply, but you must complete your graduation by June 12, 2025.
If you are an Indian candidate, you must appear for XAT 2025. However, if you're an NRI or Foreign candidate, you can apply through GMAT score.
Note that registering for XAT 2025 doesn't automatically make you eligible for XLRI or other Associate Member Institutes. You need to apply separately for your preferred programmes.
Here are some additional points to keep in mind:
Internships or articles are not considered work experience.
Only work experience after graduation is counted.
You can apply for XAT even if you are in your final year, but you must complete your graduation by the specified date.

1. Start Registration

First, you need to visit https://xatonline.in/registration. You will start by filling out the online application form.

As you fill out the form, you can save your progress at any time by clicking the SAVE AND NEXT tab. This will allow you to complete the form in multiple sessions if needed.

2. Fill Application

Next, you will fill in your academic details, including your qualifications and marks obtained. You will also need to provide your work experience details, if applicable.

3. Provide Required Documents

After that, you will upload your photo and signature as per the specifications mentioned in the guidelines. Make sure to upload clear and legible documents.

If you are interested in pursuing a programme at XLRI, you will select your preferred programme. You can choose to apply through XAT or GMAT.

4. Select Exam Center

Then, you will select your preferred XAT test city. You can choose up to 6 cities, but keep in mind that the final authority to allot the test city rests with the XAT authorities. You can edit your test city preference only once before November 30, 2024.

Before submitting your application, you will preview and verify all the details you have entered. Make sure everything is accurate and complete.

5. Submit form and make payment

If you need to make any changes, you can modify the details and then click the SUBMIT button. Remember, once you submit your application, you cannot edit any details.

Finally, you will proceed to make the payment and click the final Submit button to complete your registration. Remember to be careful and accurate while filling out the form, as no changes can be made after submission.

You need to pay a fee to register for the XAT exam. The fee is: ₹2,200 (Rupees Two Thousand) for Indian candidates, ₹2,500 (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred) for NRI/Foreign candidates. Additionally, you need to pay a fee for each XLRI programme you apply to. The fee is: ₹200 (Rupees Three Hundred) per XLRI programme. You can pay the fee online using a credit/debit card or net banking.

As you prepare to take the XAT exam, it's essential to understand the exam pattern to maximise your performance. You are about to take the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT 2025), which consists of two parts. Part 1 has a duration of 170 minutes and consists of four sections: Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning (VA & LR) - 26 questions, Decision Making (DM) - 21 questions, Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation (QA & DI) - 28 questions, General Knowledge (GK) - 20 questions

Part 2 has a duration of 10 minutes and consists of an Essay Writing section. Here's what you can expect from each section: VA & LR: Critical & analytical reasoning, reading comprehension, vocabulary, basic English grammar, para jumbles, and cloze tests. DM: Scenarios from personal and professional lives, requiring critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and prioritisation. QA & DI: Application-oriented problems based on 10th standard Mathematics, clear interpretation, summarisation, and insightful analysis of data. GK: 8 questions on static GK and 12 questions on current affairs.

Important updates: Your GK score will be used exclusively by XLRI Jamshedpur for its final selection process. Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) will be administered during the Group Discussion & Personal Interview (GD/PI) processes. The XAT exam is scheduled to take place on January 5, 2025.

You are about to take the XAT exam, a crucial step towards your MBA dreams. To make sure everything goes smoothly, it's essential to know what to expect and what's required of you. By following these guidelines, you will be well-prepared and can focus on performing your best.
Before the exam You should reach the exam centre at least 2 hours before the scheduled exam time. Bring Your printed XAT admit card, A valid government-issued ID (e.g., Aadhaar, Passport, Driving License), Pen, pencil, and eraser. Ensure your ID proof has your name, photo, and signature.
At the exam center no electronic devices (e.g., mobile phones, calculators, smartwatches) are allowed inside the exam hall. Only bring pens, pencils, and an eraser. Wear simple clothing and avoid ornaments or jewellery.
During the exam the exam will start exactly at 9:30 AM. Latecomers won't be allowed. Show your admit card and ID proof to the invigilator. Verify your details on the computer screen before starting the exam. Read the instructions carefully before attempting each section. Allocate time wisely for each section.
After the exam leave the exam hall only after the invigilator announces the end of the exam. Take your belongings and ensure you have not left anything behind.
