This first-of-a-kind Bachelor of Science degree offered by IIT Madras gives multiple courses in the foundation, diploma, BSc or final BS level. It is for the first time, that a BSc degree has no age limit or any specific background requirement. As there is no academic background requirement for this course, you have to successfully pass the qualifier process to proceed with the rest of the programme. If you choose to leave after the foundation level, you will be awarded a certificate. On the other hand, students who go further to complete a four-year course will receive a BS degree. Therefore, depending upon your needs you can tailor your BSc degree.
The IIT Madras online BSc degree includes pre-recorded lectures and weekly online assignments with a blend of in-person quizzes. Talking about its academic structure consists of data science courses, programming modules, and business courses and covers topics related to frameworks and libraries.

Admission to the foundation level is done in two different ways as mentioned below:
Regular Entry: Candidates from diverse backgrounds need to complete the qualifier process, which includes four weeks of coursework. During this phase, you will submit weekly assignments that will be graded. At the end of the four weeks, a qualifier exam will be conducted, and based on the result, you will be selected for the foundation course.
JEE-Based Entry: If you are already qualified to appear in the JEE Advanced exam, you can directly join the online BSc programme. You only have to fill out the application form and pay INR 3000 as a fee. Once your candidature is verified, you will start the programme.

Get admission to IIT without JEE

The curriculum of the online BSc degree degree at IIT Madras is divided into different categories based on the exit option you choose. When you exit after the foundation course, you get the credential of a certificate course. Similarly, there are options to exit at the diploma level, BSc degree level or after the BS level.
