NEET Exam: Date, Syllabus, Tips, Mock Tests

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) is a renowned group of institutions in the country offering excellent medical education, research and healthcare facilities. It was first set up in the year 1956 in New Delhi and since then many branches of it have been set up in various parts of the country.

As of January 2023, there are 20 AIIMS institutes that are currently operating with four more in the pipeline. As a pioneer in healthcare services, AIIMS is highly respected in not just India but the entire South Asia region for its various specialised hospitals in areas like oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology and more. It’s no wonder that each year lakhs of patients come here to seek medical assistance.

In addition to its hospitals, AIIMS also has the best medical institutes offering various degrees in the medical domain. Each year thousands of students apply for admission here but given the cut-throat competition, only a few are able to secure a place here.

Up until 2020, AIIMS conducted its own medical entrance exam known as the AIIMS entrance exam however, it was replaced by the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET exam) in 2020. This means that candidates who are seeking admission to AIIMS will now have to pass the NEET exam.

What is the NEET-UG Exam?
